Project: House extension & refurbishment
DMA Architects were commissioned to bring this dated 1960s house to modern day standards and give it a much needed face lift.
The property is a detached 3-bed house with unattractive facing brickwork. The existing plan arrangement does not provide suffficient and flexible living spaces for our clients. The design comprises the demolition of the existing garages flanking the property on both sides and replacement with a new 2-storey extension to one side and a single storey extension to the south side. The project also involves extensive internal remodelling of the existing dwelling.
A slate roofed loggia on oak posts has been added along the front of the property from where the family can enjoy sunsets. A large frameless glass balcony extends from the new main bedroom, capturing the rising sun and providing magnificent views over woodland to the rear of the property. The remodelled living spaces extend onto a new garden terrace with large areas of glazing for seamless indoor / outdoor living.
