DMA Architects have been engaged in a 4 year programme to deliver a new 100,000 sq.ft. manufacturing hub and UK headquarters for American specialist instrument makers, Thorlabs Ltd. In common with other hi-tech companies, the brief demanded a hybrid building capable of delivering flexible production space but supported by substantial office, laboratory and R&D facilities. The building also provides both a functional and attractive working environment for its 500 employees and can accommodate complex and changing production processes. The project has achieved BREEAM Very Good.
